Loek De Jong

Loek De Jong is an unemployed, 52-year-old blue collar professional who had 30+ year career in construction, but due to his deteriorating physical ability, he can no longer perform work in a physically demanding job. Loek started construction when he was 16 and has never finished school, although has all relevant certificates to perform the daily job. He is known for being very critical and knowledgeable. Loek has volunteered at KWF for years, and currently coordinates their annual regional collections.

A Bit About Loek

After being unemployed for 4 months, I was offered to attend a reskilling program by UWV.

Loek completes a self-assessment of his skills on the 8vance platform, which maps his experience, skills and motivations to several optional career paths, including a Facilities Manager. Loek chooses to pursue the path towards Facilities Manager. With 8Vance his current skills are compared to the skills he needs for a general Facilities Manager role. 

Work Experience

Loek downloads a Velocity wallet, completes an identity verification process with Yoti and is issued a digital identity document as a verifiable credential.

Once Loek completes his assessment the 8Vance platform he is offered his skill credentials named Digital Twin Profile and a Gap Analysis from 8Vance. 

Loek claims a verifiable credentials of his certificate from EVC of his recognition for prior work experience.

In his assessment it was identified that Loek needs to improve his inter-personal communication skills. Loek registers for a training module on communication skills. At the end of the program, he claims his digital verifiable credential from Salta Group in “internal communications”.

With his skills at hand, and his verifiable credentials to easily prove this, Loek searches for a temporary assignment that will utilize his skills as a Facility Manager

Loek finds an opportunity on the Randstad website for a temporary role as a Facilities Coordinator at Achmea. He applies by sharing his identity and skills credentials.

While working at Randstad at his temporary role Loek registers at NOCI to complete his MBO Facilitair Leidinggevende niveau 4 | NCOI Opleidingen. Based on his certificate from EVC, he is only required to complete courses in Dutch and Math to earn his degree . 

Loek completes his requirements for his MBO4 and is offered a verifiable credential of his MBO4 Degree by NCOI.

Loek completes the 9-month temporary assignment with Randstad as Facilities Coordinator at Achmea. At the end of the assignment Randstad offers him a credential of his employment experience.

Loek applies for a full-time position as Facilities Manager (Gebouwenbeheerder) at Rabobank. He applied by sharing his identity, skills, degree and employment verifiable  credentials.

Loek is accepted to Rabobank as a Facilitates Manager. He has completed his successful career transition.
